Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 18, 2022- The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund said via Twitter that consideration should be given to providing economic support for Ukraine’s reconstruction and laying the foundations for restoring the country’s current competitiveness.
President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that he had discussed with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva the issue of ensuring Ukraine’s financial stability and preparations for post-war reconstruction.
Georgieva said the IMF has increased emergency funding to help Ukraine, launched a special account for the financing and, in cooperation with international partners, are preparing for a large-scale effort to rebuild the country.
Prime Minister Denis Shmyal also announced that a Ukrainian government delegation will travel to Washington next week to meet with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the US administration to attract more financial support to Ukraine.
