Initially, diplomats will resume “day trips” across the border to Lviv next week, a State Department spokesman said. He added that officials are speeding up the return of the embassy to Kyiv.
“There is no substitute for this face-to-face meeting, and, of course, there is a symbolism of returning to the country,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

Blinken and Austin arrived in Kyiv on April 24. They met with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
Their visit was to demonstrate Ukraine’s support for Western countries. After visiting Ukraine, Austin will travel to Germany to meet with more than 20 leaders and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss Ukraine’s defense needs.
