At the Rivne nuclear power plant, the automatic protection was activated due to the shutdown of the turbines and the power unit №1 was disconnected from the grid, the management of Rivne nuclear power plant (NPP) decided to shut down the No.1 unit.
Today at 1:43 the power unit №1 of RNPP (WWER-440) was disconnected from the grid. The shutdown occurred due to the operation of automatic protection upon disconnection of the turbines of the unit. The reason for the shutdown is currently being investigated. The preliminary classification of the event according to the international INES scale is outside the scale.
It is noted that the second power unit is working, and the staff has no comments on the operation of the main equipment. At the same time, the 28th and 97th days of planned and preventive repairs continue at power units №3 and №4, respectively.
All works are performed according to repair schedules. There were no violations of the boundaries and conditions of safe operation. Radiation, fire and environmental conditions at RNPP and the surrounding area have not changed and are within current standards.
