Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – May 10, 2022 – German Foreign Minister Annalina Birbock visited Bucha on May 10 and will hold political talks in Kyiv, where she spoke to residents of Bucha, a city that has become synonymous with Russian war crimes in Ukraine, and was accompanied by Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova.
As Birbock is scheduled to hold talks with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba this afternoon, the German minister is expected to announce plans to reopen the German embassy in Kyiv that has been closed since mid-February.
Also, this is the first visit to Ukraine by a member of the German Federal Government since the beginning of the all-out war, and as for Borbock, this is her third visit to Ukraine since the beginning of the year and in general as Foreign Minister.
The German Foreign Ministry has not yet announced the visit specifically for security reasons.
On May 8, the President of the Bundestag Purple Bass visited Kyiv, the head of the largest German opposition party CDU, Friedrich Merz.
