The Basmanny court of Moscow at the request of the investigation arrested in absentia the former commander of the Ukrainian battalion “Aidar”, and now the head of the Odessa OVA Maxim Marchenko .
Details
“As for Marchenko, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention for a period of two months from the moment of his detention or extradition to the territory of Russia,” the court said.
Earlier, the Russian investigation in absentia charged Marchenko – former commander of “Aidar”, then the 28th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and now head of the Odessa Regional State Administration – with alleged “use of prohibited means and methods of warfare” (Part 1 of Article 356 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Also, according to the Basmanny court, a similar precautionary measure on similar charges was chosen against Serhiy Baranov, commander of the 44th separate artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Both defendants are wanted internationally, the court said.
Let’s add
Marchenko in his Telegram has already responded to the decision of the Russian court with a joke.
“- You know, when you’re gone, they say that about you …
– Tell them that when I’m gone, they can even beat me,” Marchenko wrote.
