“The Kremlin is trying to turn the war into a protracted phase,” Reznikov said at the GLOBSEC 2022 forum in Bratislava via video link.
“Instead of an offensive, Russian troops are building a tiered defense” in the southern occupied areas, especially in Kherson, he said.

Reznikov also touched upon the issue of Ukraine’s potential membership in NATO. He said NATO should consider granting Ukraine de facto, not de jure, membership in the Alliance when discussing its strategy for the next 10 years at the June summit.
“I think that if we talk about Ukraine’s membership in NATO de facto, not de jure, it may be a good idea in this strategy,” Reznikov said.
“Ukraine will also be part of the strategy, because we are also part of the eastern flank of Europe, the eastern flank of NATO countries, the eastern flank of the EU. I think this will be a win-win situation for all countries,” Reznikov added.
Addition
In the Kherson region, enemy troops continue to try to hold their ground. In particular, hostilities are taking place on the border of Mykolayiv and Dinpropetrovsk regions and in Beryslav district, according to the regional state administration.
