“Fighting continues in the Severodonetsk region. Russia is once again in control of most of the city, but its troops have made little progress in trying to surround a large area from the north and south,” the statement said.
Details
British intelligence also points out that Russia is trying hard to provide basic public services to the population in the occupied territories.
“Access to safe drinking water is intermittent, while serious interruptions in telephone and Internet services continue. There is probably an acute shortage of medicines in Kherson, and there is a risk of a large cholera outbreak in Mariupol. Isolated cases of cholera have been reported since May.” – stated in the message.
Ukraine reportedly experienced a major cholera epidemic in 1995, and there have been small outbreaks since then, especially off the coast of the Sea of Azov, including Mariupol.
“Medical services in Mariupol are probably close to collapse: a large outbreak of cholera in Mariupol will worsen the situation,” – said the British intelligence.
Addition
WHO confirms the risk of cholera in Mariupol, the region has created stocks of treatment and vaccination.
