“It would be fair if I, as a Ukrainian leader, was listened to in advance, listened to what we warned about. I mean the precautionary sanctions to prevent the war from starting, the presentation of our strategy on the Black Sea, the construction of the Black Sea Fleet with a partner country. We suggested, we said that Russia would block the Black Sea, “Zelensky said.
Details
The President noted that a year ago Ukraine proposed a missile program, which air defense equipment is needed for protection.
“If they had heard me, Ukraine would have had a better chance of stopping the Russian invasion, the signals you are talking about were all different. See if everything happens if everyone warns Ukraine that there will be a full-scale invasion tomorrow, the question arises: why was the airspace closed, why we were not provided with weapons before this invasion and why no temporary sanctions were imposed to deter the Russian president as a precaution ? That’s how I would answer this. Let’s be honest: we were preparing for this, in the beginning no one supported us, and now I am grateful to all partners for the support we have, “said Zelensky.
Addition
Earlier, Zelensky commented on Ukraine’s preparations for a full-scale Russian invasion based on intelligence from various countries. The President stated that no one knew the final scenario of how the events would unfold, adding that Ukraine was preparing accordingly.
