This year, Ukraine’s public debt to GDP may increase to 80-85%. Last year it was about 50%. This was announced by the adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues Oleh Ustenko on the air of the Ukrainian telethon .
Quote
“In principle, if we talk about debt figures, it is true in relation to GDP, ie our debt is growing as a percentage. If in the previous year it was about 50% of gross domestic product, it may increase to 80-85%. But it does not increase because we borrow more, because by the way, we do not borrow debt in most cases, we borrow so-called grant funds. That is, they should not be returned, interest should not be paid on them either, ”Ustenko said.

He noted that Ukraine’s GDP is declining.
“Imagine that last year our GDP was $ 200 billion, and this year I would be focusing on about $ 120-130 billion. If you reduce the denominator so significantly, then of course your debt percentage increases … This is definitely not a default, ”Ustenko said.
Addition
The head of the Verkhovna Rada’s Finance Committee, People’s Deputy Danilo Hetmantsev , said that the war with the Russian invaders was continuing not only at the front, but also in the economic sphere. The enemy is trying to destroy our economy.
