President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine Concerning the Protection of the Rights of Orphans, Children Deprived of Parental Care and Disability” № 1020-IX.
The document is aimed at improving the social protection of orphans and children deprived of parental care living in foster families and family-type orphanages.
“According to the law, orphans and children deprived of parental care who have a disability may, at their option, continue to live in a foster family, a family-type orphanage until they reach the age of 23, regardless of whether they are studying in institutions of general secondary, professional (vocational), professional higher and higher education. The document comes into force on the day following the day of its publication, ”the President’s Office said.
