Russia is asking Iran to provide it with “hundreds” of combat drones for use in the war against Ukraine. This was reported by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan .

“Our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with up to several hundred unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs — ed.), including those capable of carrying weapons, in an accelerated period,” the White House adviser said.
Details
Sullivan said that according to the United States, Iran is preparing to teach Russian troops how to use drones as early as this month. In addition, he added, it is proof that Russia’s heavy bombing of Ukraine, which forced it to consolidate gains in the east of the country in recent weeks, “came at the cost of supporting its own weapons.”
According to Sullivan, it is not yet known whether Iran has already delivered any of the drones to Russia. Iranian drones were used by Houthi rebels in Yemen to attack Saudi Arabia before a ceasefire was reached earlier this year, a White House adviser said.
As Samuel Bendett, a military analyst from the CNA think tank, noted, Russia’s choice of Tehran to supply drones is “logical” because Iran “has been improving its combat drones for the past 20 years or more.” He noted that these UAVs can be “very effective” for striking Ukrainian power plants, oil refineries and other critical infrastructure.
Addition
Russian aviation has not entered the air defense zone of Ukraine for two and a half months .
