“On July 24, 2022, Russian cruise missiles targeted the wharf of the Ukrainian Odesa port. The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that it struck a Ukrainian warship and a complex of anti-ship missiles. There are no signs that such targets were in the place where the missiles hit,” the Ministry of Defense reported Britain with reference to intelligence.

As noted, “Russia almost certainly perceives anti-ship missiles as a key threat limiting the effectiveness of its Black Sea fleet.” “This significantly undermined the overall invasion plan, as Russia is unable to realistically try to seize Odesa with a sea landing,” British intelligence said.
“Russia will continue to give priority to efforts to weaken and destroy Ukraine’s anti-ship capabilities. However, the way Russia targets is most likely regularly undermined by outdated intelligence, poor planning and a top-down approach to operations,” the British MoD noted.
Addition
On July 23, the enemy attacked the Odesa Sea Trade Port with Kalibr cruise missiles. 2 missiles were shot down by air defense forces. 2 hit the infrastructure facilities of the port, reported in OK “Pivden”.
This happened less than 24 hours after Russia signed an agreement with the UN and Turkey on unblocking the export of Ukrainian grain by sea. Ukraine signed a similar agreement separately from the Russian Federation with the UN and Turkey. It was about unblocking three ports for export – “Odesa”, “Chornomorsk” and “Pivdenny”.
The hostile missile attack on the port of Odesa has already provoked the reaction of both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and foreign diplomats, in particular, the USA and the EU.
