The international working group on sanctions against Russia was created at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The group is headed by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak and the director of the Freeman-Spogli Institute of International Studies (FSI), former adviser to the US President on national security, Ambassador Michael McFaul.
So, in April, Yermak, on behalf of Volodymyr Zelenskyi , turned to the former US ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, to create a special program to develop and strengthen sanctions against Russia. Then they presented the Action Plan on increasing sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
On May 10, the working group on sanctions against Russia presented a document – Energy Sanctions Roadmap: Recommendations for sanctions against the Russian Federation. This is the second document developed by the Yermak-McFaul group.
