As the dpa agency clarified, Ukrainians who leave for Ukraine on a permanent basis must renounce the status of temporary protection. At the same time, in the event of a return, they will be able to register at any time to restore its validity.
According to the UN Refugee Agency, more than 6 million people from Ukraine have moved to other European countries.
Johansson, in turn, said that at the railway station in Kyiv, she saw a long line of Ukrainians with children and luggage who had returned to the Motherland. The European Commissioner considers it a “big step forward” that so many residents decided to “return home and rebuild Ukraine.”
