“We presented a mobile application for women who have suffered from domestic or gender-based violence, or are in a risk group. The application makes it possible to call the police in cases where a call to 102 is not possible,” the message says.
Details
As reported, it was presented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine in partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, within the framework of the Biarritz Partnership initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.
Yes, every fifth woman in Ukraine faced domestic violence. After the start of a full-scale war, the problem of violence against women became even more latent.
The application is aimed at facilitating assistance for that category of women who do not have the opportunity to call the police due to physical characteristics (for example, people with hearing impairment), total control of their personal life, lack of funds in the account, etc. The main advantage of the application is direct communication with the police through the “SOS” button, without calling 102 and with automatic determination of the location of the victim through geolocation.
The concept of the application makes it completely unnoticeable to the offender. The external interface of the application is disguised as an ordinary application on the woman’s phone.
The name of the application is withheld for the safety of women who will use it. Currently, you can find out details about the name of the application and its installation by calling the hotline 116 123.
