The State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Ukraine (MorAd) extended the season of river navigation at all locks of the Dnieper until January 15, 2021. The administration issued the corresponding order No. 321.
MorAd has extended the navigation period on the basis of letters from Ukrvodput dated December 22, the Ministry of Infrastructure dated December 24, as well as information from the Ukrhydrometeorological Center about favorable weather conditions.
It was originally planned that the Kiev and Kanev locks will be closed on November 15, Kremenchug and Dneprodzerzhinsky – on November 22, Kakhovsky – on December 5, Zaporozhye – on December 4. Later, MorAd shifted the end of the shipping season in the upper half of the Dnieper River to December 1, then extended it at all locks until the end of December.
The logistic community of the European Business Association (EBA) has come out in favor of extending the navigation time at the navigable hydraulic structures of the Dnieper River. At the same time, the Ministry of Infrastructure plans to navigate the Dnieper all year round.
