“As for Anton Yatsenko’s draft law, I want to emphasize: every PEOPLE’s Deputy has the opportunity to transfer his own funds to the needs of those who need help now. And so many of us do. MPs are elected to change the country for the better. As a voter, I chose experts, scientists (we have many deputies with a scientific degree), technocrats. Expertise requires hard work and time, so the work of a person who is an expert in a particular field should be adequately paid.
MPs have very limited time to do anything other than exercise their powers. All the time they dedicate to their voters, communities. Parliamentary powers do not cease during vacation, illness or business trip.
Therefore, I consider Yatsenko’s project to be populist. He can dispose of his own funds as he pleases, and not do PR on the trouble in which Ukrainians now find themselves due to a full-scale war with Russia. So, I will not vote for the project in principle, as for my colleagues, I cannot say,” the MP said.
As chairman of the Budget Committee, Aristov added that he considers the costs of the state apparatus “bloated”. At the same time, he noted that the state leadership has already set a task to reduce spending.
Recall
Non-fractional PEOPLE’s Deputy Anton Yatsenko in his draft law proposes to abolish all benefits and privileges for people’s deputies for the period of martial law, as well as to set their salaries at the minimum wage level.
However, according to experts, this will not bring significant funds to the budget, so such initiatives are populist in nature.
