Increasing the size of the army of the Russian Federation is unlikely to increase its combat power in the war against Ukraine, since there are very few people willing to go on a contract. The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain writes about this on Twitter .

As noted, it is still unclear whether the Kremlin will try to make up for the significant losses in its army by recruiting more volunteer contract soldiers or by increasing the annual plan for conscription.

“In any case, under current law, the decree is unlikely to lead to significant progress in strengthening Russia’s combat power in Ukraine. This is because Russia has lost tens of thousands of troops, very few new contract recruits are being recruited, and conscripts are not technically obligated to serve outside the territory of Russia,” the agency reported.
Addition
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin increased the number of Russian army personnel by 137,000.
In particular, the President of Russia signed a decree according to which the total number of Russian Armed Forces will now be 2,039,758 people, of which 1,150,628 are military personnel.
