Today there was an explosion near the Russian embassy in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Two employees of the Russian diplomatic mission were killed, and up to 20 people were injured. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia .

“On September 5, at 10:50 Kabul time, in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the consular department of the Russian Embassy in Kabul, an unknown militant set off an explosive device. As a result of the attack, two employees of the diplomatic mission were killed, and among Afghan citizens there were also injured,” the message reads.
As of 11:00 a.m., local media reported that 15 to 20 people were killed or injured as a result of the terrorist attack. It is also noted that the terrorist was shot dead by armed guards when he was approaching the gates of the embassy.
Let’s add that Russia is one of the few countries that kept an embassy in Kabul after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan.
