“This week, the European Commission will come up with proposals to suspend the agreement on the simplification of the visa regime with Russia and the non-recognition of Russian passports issued in the occupied territories of Ukraine,” Yozvyak said.

On August 31, the ministers of foreign affairs of the EU countries agreed to suspend the visa facilitation agreement with Russia from 2007 against the background of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Permanent representatives of the EU member states can agree on the suspension of the agreement on the simplified visa regime with the Russian Federation on Wednesday, September 7.
The termination of the visa facilitation agreement with Russia will mean that Russians will pay 80 euros instead of 35 for EU visas, and will also face a longer procedure for obtaining them.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy , called on the West to introduce a complete travel ban for Russians.
