Russian dictator Volodymyr Putin spoke about restricting the export of grain from Ukraine. The corresponding statement was made during his speech at the meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum .
Details
Putin said that allegedly all Ukrainian grain was not delivered to starving countries.
“We did everything to ensure that Ukrainian grain was exported. (…) We did it together with Turkey. If we exclude Turkey as an intermediary country, then practically all the grain that is exported from Ukraine is not directed to the poorest countries, which are developing, and to the countries of the European Union. Only two ships were loaded under the UN World Food Program, which provides for aid to countries in need. I emphasize, only two out of 87. And they transported 60 thousand tons of food out of two million tons. That’s all 3%, which are directed to developing countries,” said the Russian dictator.
In his opinion, due to such an approach, the scale of food problems in the world will only grow, which can lead to a humanitarian disaster.
“Perhaps it is worth thinking about limiting the export of grain and other food via this route. I will certainly consult on this topic with the President of Turkey, Mr. Erdogan,” Putin said.
Addition
On July 22, an agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain was signed in Istanbul , which will be valid for 120 days from the date of signing with the possibility of extension and will allow the unblocking of three Ukrainian ports.
During the month of operation of the “grain corridor”, Ukraine shipped more than 60,000 tons of wheat within the framework of the UN World Food Program.
