Prince William and the Queen Consort signed the proclamation. “When the Council of Accession began, the Prince of Wales was the first to sign the proclamation, followed by Queen Consort Camilla,” the statement said.
The council, broadcast on television for the first time in history, will officially proclaim Charles III as king.
The first part of the Accession Council has already ended, those present left the hall of St. James’s Palace and headed for the throne room.
This is the first time that women are present at the Accession Council – previously only men were present at it, the publication notes.
