Iran can supply Russia with drones by sea (via the Caspian Sea), so the number of Shahed-type kamikaze drones in Russia may increase, increasing the likelihood of attacks in the near future. This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, on the air of the national telethon .

“If they will do it at the pace they took those 2 nights (judging by the information already announced by certain of our special services about 250 pieces, they have already used at least half of them), then here we can already tentatively count: do not forget that each party can be picked up again. Russia is separated from Iran by a piece of the Caspian Sea, they can transport those drones by sea at least every day. The question is whether Iran is ready to provide them, whether it has enough, or whether they will do it under the guise of production at a conditional Russian factory, which they wanted to build somewhere on the territory of the Russian Federation. Everything depends on supplies. Therefore, we will prepare, drones go astray,” he said.
Details
Ignat stated that since September 11, about half a thousand drones have been shot down. Approximately or slightly less cruise missiles were shot down. However, the Russians should not be underestimated, as the war is currently exhausting our air defense systems, he noted.
“Yes, they (the Russians – ed.) realized that they are stupid in conducting their military operations, but they should not be underestimated here, because it is clear that the air defense systems are being depleted. In general, this is both technology, and even the human factor is also present. People are ready, but it really affects the personnel as well. This mainly affects the ammunition of our anti-aircraft missiles and other weapons, because drones are relatively cheap. The enemy understands this. But there is no other way out, even fighters take to the air to intercept these UAVs. This is how we have to react,” the spokesman continued.
Undoubtedly, the Western weapons provided by the partners help in the downing of the “martyrs”. It works extremely effectively, but it needs to be strengthened. The enemy increased shelling during the New Year holidays. And, of course, more capabilities need to be acquired to repel potential attacks.
“For the coming years, we will not create a single dome over the entire territory of Ukraine. This is physically impossible, because it is simply impossible to place air defense systems along such a length of our borders and cover strategically important objects of our state. It must be a really huge amount of equipment, it is extremely expensive, it requires huge state and human resources. Therefore, the air defense system in other countries of the world, in particular, in such countries as the USA and Europe, overlaps certain directions. Another part of the air defense systems of other countries is performed by fighters. Thus, planes that can quickly take off from airfields and need to intercept a missile, drone or plane – they act promptly, quickly and as efficiently as possible. But in order for all this to happen quickly and efficiently, new modern aircraft are needed, which have the latest radars, missiles – that is, it is an F-16 of a certain modification, the very first candidate that could carry out the task in the air to cover the airspace. But the anti-aircraft complexes provided to us are NASAMS, Iris-T, Patriot – three promising complexes that will become the basis of air defense, together with the air defense of the Ground Forces, together with aircraft – they are also needed in a certain number so that our anti-aircraft missiles the troops were able to work effectively,” he explained.
Addition
Earlier, Yuriy Ignat said that the way the Ukrainian air defense forces worked on enemy air targets on the New Year’s holiday with the NASAMS complex is probably a unique experience.
