Bakhmut is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but heavy fighting continues around it. The Russian occupiers suffer losses. This was stated by the spokesman of the Eastern group of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Serhiy Cherevatyi on the air of the national telethon “United News” .

“Bakhmut is absolutely under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Heavy fighting continues around him and the enemy suffers heavy losses every day and tries to continue to carry out mass artillery shelling. However, Bakhmut holds on,” Cherevaty said.
According to him, so far Bakhmut is one of the most intensive sections of the front where intensive combat clashes constantly continue and enemy shelling takes place.
Cherevatyi noted that there was no Christmas truce in Bakhmut.
In addition, he said that hostilities were ongoing in the direction of Svatove – Kreminna.
“The enemy is regrouping there. Also concentrates more of its personnel and equipment. He is trying to counterattack in certain directions, in the area of such settlements as Stelmakhivka, Ploshchevka, and some others. Nevertheless, it suffers losses and retreats. The Armed Forces of Ukraine act taking into account the situation, weather conditions, whether it is currently possible to carry out certain operations,” Cherevaty said.

The Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky, reported that the occupiers had the task of capturing Soledar and surrounding Bakhmut by December 26, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine disrupted the enemy’s plans.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, the head of the OVA, reported that more than 60% of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region had been destroyed. The occupying forces continue to try to attack the city in the north-east of the Donetsk region.
