Today it became known that the automobile concerns Ford and Fiat have decided to temporarily suspend the work of some of their automobile assembly plants, and the official reason is precisely the lack of supply of certain semiconductors. Despite the fact that the official representatives of the automobile concerns Ford and Fiat are in no hurry to publish specific data regarding semiconductors and other components – in particular, they do not want to talk about a specific type of missing semiconductors – one can guess that the problem is indicative enough for making such a decision.
Moreover, the management of the American automaker Ford announced today its intention to stop the work of the assembly shop in Louisville, USA, and we are talking about the intention to suspend the plant for a whole week – which is clearly a long period by the standards of the automotive industry. However, as the specialists and financial analysts of Ford noted, such a temporary suspension will not have any negative consequences for the company, since it has calculated everything in advance.
As for the auto concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, then everything is for exactly the same reason, although we are also talking about the need to supply some additional equipment and components for its models. She temporarily closed a factory in Brampton, UK, where she mainly assembles the Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger models. However, the decision to temporarily suspend the work of these plants can also be provoked by some other reasons.
Taking into account the fact that earlier both carmakers spoke about the need to optimize and gradually improve the performance of their car factories, it becomes obvious that such a decision is completely thought out and strategically verified. For now, it only remains to wait for the final completion of the current stage of preparation for the reopening of both plants – it is quite possible that in a relatively short time, insiders will tell in detail about what components the companies lacked.
