Everyone knows the filth when sugar is poured into a gas tank, but is it so dangerous for modern cars? An interesting video has appeared on the YouTube channel ChrisFix, where a blogger pours sugar sand into his own car, and then quickly cleans the fuel system and concludes that nothing terrible has happened.
It turned out that granulated sugar does not dissolve in gasoline, so it does not actually affect the composition of the fuel and its properties. Sugar gasoline does not exist, that is, the engine in this regard is not threatened. The danger is posed by the pellets themselves, but they still need to somehow get to the engine.
Almost all modern cars have a special valve near the gas tank stopper, through which a lot of sugar will not pass. Also at the bottom of the neck of the tank there is a net, thanks to which the sugar is not so easy to get inside. Most of what still got through the valve remains in the pipe.
There is also a strainer in front of the fuel pump, which also traps sugar. You can clean the sugar from the tank and hoses yourself. The parts are washed with plenty of ordinary water.
