The death toll from a magnitude 6.2 earthquake on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on Friday has risen to 34, with about 600 injured.
“The National Emergency Management Agency said at least eight people had died in an area south of Mamuju, a town of about 110,000 people in West Sulawesi province, bringing the total death toll to 34,” the statement said.
Rescuers searched for more than a dozen patients and staff trapped under the rubble of the destroyed Mamuju Hospital.
According to preliminary data, about 600 people were injured.
A 5.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of Indonesia on Thursday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said that at the moment there is no information about the Ukrainians affected by the powerful earthquake on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia.
