Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 24, 2021 – Local News
Oleksiy Reznikov, Deputy Prime Minister for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, believes that a new law on lustration should be adopted for the deoccupied territories on the basis of and in accordance with United Nations standards.
“We analyzed the legislation on lustration after 2014. It was necessary, but it was quite total, it did not give the possibility of judicial control and did not allow a person, if he believes that his right was unfairly restricted, to raise the issue of abolishing the application of lustration rules. Therefore, we believe that judicial control should be here so that a person can raise issues that have been included in one category or another in vain, and he should not fall under it, “Reznikov said.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that a new law on lustration will have to be adopted for future occupied territories.
“I think it makes sense to write a new law. Because then they wrote quickly. I think that there is a lot of attention and indignation in society today, and it is simply impossible to forgive someone. Therefore, I think that it is necessary to write a law on the basis of and according to UN standards, ”Reznikov stressed.
Therefore, restrictions should be imposed on the holding of positions by citizens who have been involved in the activities of the occupation forces and occupation administrations, divided into several categories depending on the place of service or work.
“If a person works today, for example, in the MGB, faithfully serves the occupation regime, then he certainly can not work tomorrow in the occupied Donbass or the National Police. This will be the restriction of lustration rights, ”the Deputy Prime Minister added.
Reznikov noted that it is envisaged to create a certain body that will have the competence to make decisions on the restriction of rights.
