In October-December 2020/21, Ukraine shipped about 8.8 million tons of corn to the foreign market, which is 8% lower than the similar indicator of the 2019/20 season (9.5 million tons).
At the same time, the key importer of Ukrainian grain in the reporting period was China, which increased purchases 2.8 times compared to the level of the same period 2019/20 MY – up to 3.6 million tons.
The second position was taken by the EU, which reduced purchases of corn from Ukraine by 39%, to 2.7 million tons closes the TOP-3 ranking of importers Egypt, which in October-December imported 900.4 thousand tons of corn from Ukraine (-19% of last year’s level).
In total, importers account for 82% of all shipped shipments, with China accounting for 40% and the EU for 31%.
It is also noted that in the current season, the export potential of corn from Ukraine is estimated by analysts at 22 million tons, which is 23% lower than the result of 2019/20 MY (28.7 million tons).
