Kiev. Ukraine. Ukraine Gate – January 29, 2021 – Technology
Although it was previously rumored that Apple included a periscope zoom lens in its iPhone last year, the company has not yet released a smartphone with a special camera. But it seems that the technology is still under development, as the company has patented a “periscope camera module”. Today (January 29, 2021) the US Patent and Trademark Office published a new patent application. The documents say that the invention of the Cupertino giant concerns the technology of a complex camera with a range from 85 to 165 mm. This composite camera could possibly be used in a small form factor camera module. The patented camera is equipped with two complex light elements and a lens system located between these two elements.
In addition, the lens system itself may be independent of the light elements and may also include an aperture limiter and a refractive lens element mounted in the lens frame. Simply put, the camera system can offer excellent optical zoom capabilities combined with additional digital zoom features. We can expect this technology to appear in future iPhones, although it is unknown at this time whether the new camera lens will come with the 2021 iPhone line.
Interestingly, the documents emphasize the universal use of the new camera. We can see it in Apple computers, candy bars, tablets, and laptops.
