Giant waves destroyed many beaches after the recent strong storm in Odessa. Summer restaurants on the coast also suffered from a natural disaster, and the seawater removed tons of sand from the beach near the 16th station of the Great Fountain.
Residents of Odessa, who came to the sixteenth station in Fontana to stroll by the sea, have to look for a place to go ashore because there are almost no beaches in the area after the storm “Tristan”.
As one local resident said, “There was a strong storm to the point where the sea came so close that there was almost no sand.”
On another beach, waves tore apart a metal ladder of sand and dumped tens of meters of water. Workers are also currently working to repair the damaged structures.
The city’s Engineering Protection Department reported inspecting all disaster-affected beaches in the near future. And every year during storms, the sea removes about 20% of the sand from the beaches but the city does not have the money to fully recover it.
