In the near future, officials are planning to hold fashion competitions, and to equip an industrial and entertainment complex for health care (medical tourism).
Igor Chava, director of the Drohobych Tourist Information Center, announced in a press statement to the media.
The salt industry franchise has been re-acquired for 5 years, and it is reported that in the fall of 2019 the company was threatened with bankruptcy.
But we know that this factory is one of the ancient landmarks of our city, and when we started to develop tourism in this facility, we realized that there is an effective tourism demand.
The municipality, the government, and society united and did everything so that it would not be privatized.
“There is now a new director who aims to develop the salt business as a tourism establishment and facility,” Chava said.
According to his statement, the Salt Action Plots are now not in very good condition, but the management is working on raising funds to improve them.
And in the future, Drohobych Saltworks should become an industrial, recreational, and health complex.
The salt will be produced using old technology, the salt mill will remain, and a tourist facility where you can touch history, buy salt, and play with children in interactive public science rooms – this is how they see the new tourist “magnet” in Drohobych.
Fashion shows are also planned, with the opportunity to join a salt cooking program every Sunday.
