1.579 Million Cases of COVID-19 in Ukraine

According to the daily message of the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxim Stepanov, in Ukraine, 1.579 million cases of coronavirus disease COVID-19 have already been recorded, the daily increase for March 23 – 14.1 thousand, an increase over the previous day. At the same time, the high rate of hospitalizations per day is 5.4 thousand. Again, the anti-record for fatalities per day – 342.

In Ukraine for the past 24hrs, on March 23, 14,174 cases of COVID-19 were detected. Also, 7,386 people recovered and 342 died from complications of the disease. Also yesterday, 5,438 patients with suspected or diagnosed COVID-19 were hospitalized.

The number of deaths per day is the maximum since the beginning of the pandemic. For the second day in a row, a record number of deaths were recorded, the day before 333 patients with coronavirus died. Prior to that, more than 300 deaths in the country have never been recorded.

Laboratories performed 126,948 tests for coronavirus per day : by PCR – 52,196, by ELISA – 21,549. Also performed 53,203 rapid tests for the antigen to the virus. In total, more than 7.7 million PCR tests were conducted in Ukraine.

Most new cases were detected in Kyiv (1,300), Odesa (1,177), Khmelnytsky (994), Lviv (939), and Kyiv (813) oblasts.

In total, since the beginning of the pandemic in Ukraine, more than 1.5 million cases of coronavirus have been recorded, more than 1.2 million patients have recovered and 30,773 have died from complications.

Ivano-Frankivsk region – 351 cases;

Kyiv region – 813 cases;

Kirovohrad region – 113 cases;

Luhansk region – 152 cases;

Lviv region – 939 cases;

Mykolaiv region – 380 cases;

Odessa region – 1,177 cases;

Poltava region – 450 cases;

Rivne region – 540 cases;

Sumy region – 494 cases;

Ternopil region – 522 cases;

Kharkiv region – 809 cases;

Kherson region – 128 cases;

Khmelnytsky region – 994 cases;

Cherkasy region – 426 cases;

Chernivtsi region – 484 cases;

Chernihiv region – 98 cases.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk oblasts, and the city of Sevastopol are missing.

According to Worldometer, a resource that monitors the situation with the coronavirus in the world, Ukraine ranks 16th in distribution and 18th in the number of deaths from COVID-19.
