The athlete took part in the Bahrain Grand Prix – the first stage of this season’s legendary race, finishing the race last, 16th.
His teammate Haas – Russian pilot Nikita Mazepin – flew off the track on the first lap. Both Mazepin and Schumacher Jr. are just starting their careers in Formula One as drivers.
After the arrival, Mick Schumacher, at the request of journalists, told how he evaluates his results: “Definitely good! I’m 95 percent satisfied. Certainly not the way I acted at first. But the fact that I was able to finish the race is important to me. ” The athlete added that he felt comfortable in the cockpit, was relaxed, and received a lot of positive emotions, which will be relied on in the future.
British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain Grand Prix. Dutchman Max Ferstappen of Red Bull finished second. Finn Waltteri Bottas – also from Mercedes – closed the top three.
Champion of “Formula 2” – 2020
In December 2020, Schumacher Jr. became the champion of the Formula 2 series. At the stage in Bahrain, he did not win a single point, reaching the finish line in the 18th. However, his closest pursuer, the British Callum Aylott in the second half of the race lost pace and also finished without a single point. Thanks to this, Mick Schumacher managed to win the title. His advantage over Aylotte at the end of the season was 14 points.
Michael Schumacher ended his career in 2012, and in late 2013 as a result of an accident at a ski resort suffered a head injury.
