You applied for the vacancy of your dreams, did well in an interview, and the company preferred another candidate. Do not despair, all is not lost!

You dreamed about this job, you put a lot of effort into writing a CV: you have excellent profile education, professional experience, necessary skills, and abilities. But your employer sends you a rejection letter – even without giving you a reason. Do not despair in any way and do not give up! Instead, contact the company that kept you from the job again. Do you find this uncomfortable? never! In an interview with DW, management and career consultant Christian Richter from Dusseldorf suggested how to get a second chance.
Christian Richter advises instead of anxiety, bewilderment, and assumptions, don’t be afraid to ask the company directly why you were turning down your nomination.
On the one hand, companies unwilling to take legal risk and trying not to press charges of discrimination against candidates who respond to the vacancy are often too eager to justify their negative decision. Because the law prohibits discrimination in employment, you are unlikely to hear that your age or gender is not a suitable employer.
However, when it comes to your dream work, you should definitely try to figure out why you are exposed to the laundry. Luck will likely smile at you – and your HR manager will not only respond positively to your step, but he will also appreciate your interest and motivation. It is possible that your CV will be reviewed. Demonstrating genuine interest in the employer will work in your favor. Well, if you are told the true reasons for the refusal, it’s not bad at all: you take into account these shortcomings when submitting a resume for another vacancy and work to remove them, says Christian Richter.
Work to fix the bug
It is also important to fully analyze the course of the interview. Maybe you are very familiar? Or, on the contrary, was it too closed and insecure? And what if your style of clothing doesn’t meet the company’s dress code standards? What can alert a recruiter in general? Understand this, because sometimes changing your appearance or style of behavior is enough to arouse the interest of a potential employer.
After returning the résumé, be sure to carefully recheck all the documents attached to it: Suddenly the recruiters ’decisions are affected by mistakes that crept in, not the exact wording. If the simplest defects are found, they should be eliminated immediately, and it is better to do this with the help of a professional job search advisor, as the expert recommends.
Keep knocking on the door
After arranging your “file”, you can send it back to your dream company with a request for review, and also in the cover letter ask for the opportunity to speak on the phone with the Human Resources Manager. If, after reviewing the CV, he clearly demonstrates the reasons for refusing your appointment, it is best to thank him politely for his attention and feedback, and sincerely wish him success in finding employees, and bid him farewell.
However, if, in your opinion, the arguments presented by the recruiter are not convincing, then you should once again state your strengths as a specialist and emphasize your interest in the vacancy and the company. At the same time, be sure to ask about the skills and other qualities required for the required position. This install will definitely impress.
Even after rejection, do you still dream of working for this company? Then you should search for alternative vacancies on their website. You may find a new option that suits you, and decide to send the required company CV again. And since you already have a relationship of trust with the human resource manager, your chances of being hired will increase many times over, says the German expert in management and career growth.
