US President Joe Biden intends to send Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Ukraine in May. This was announced on Monday by CNN, citing a source in the leadership of Ukraine, close to the coordination of the upcoming visit of the head of American diplomacy.

According to the TV channel, Blinken’s visit to Kyiv should show the US allies in NATO that Washington does not intend to abandon a tough course towards Moscow at the meeting of the leaders of the two countries scheduled for the summer.
“The fact that the Biden administration will send its chief diplomat to Ukraine a few weeks before the summit will be a clear signal that Washington continues to support the country and values it as an ally,” CNN said.
Presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden had a telephone conversation on April 13. According to the White House press service, Biden put forward the idea of holding a Russian-American summit “in a third country in the coming months.” The American leader later clarified that he had invited his Russian counterpart to meet in Europe in the summer.
Recently, President Volodymyr Zelensky called for a review of Minsk and a stronger role for the United States, Britain, and Canada in resolving the Donbas conflict.
