Every gardener and horticulturist knows that a good harvest requires fertile soil, and to get it, the soil must be fertilized. Many people believe that the best fertilizer is an organic fertilizer, first of all, of course, compost. It can be considered the most affordable and simple fertilizer, which in turn provides the land, and hence the plants with proper nutrition. You can prepare quality fertilizer yourself, and quickly enough, you only need to know a few subtleties.

Organization of a compost heap
One of the basic rules is that the composter must be above ground, ie in fact it is not a pit. It must also be well aerated, so the recycling process will be much faster. Finally, the composter should not be small, the optimal size – 1 meter by 1 meter and any height. If the volume is less than 1 cube, the processing process will not be so rapid, and therefore there will be no heating.
Compost bookmark
The compost heap should never look like a pile of rubbish and waste. With the correct distribution of layers and components, you will get a fairly fast and very high-quality fertilizer without odors and flies.
The first rule to consider is that the composter should be filled not gradually, but immediately. You can pre-layout the materials in small piles, which are then collected together in a composter.
The second very important point is the ratio of carbon and nitrogen components, it should be 5: 1 or 3: 1. The nitrogen components include everything green, the carbon components – everything brown. If you add more than 3 or 5 parts of carbon components, it will significantly slow down the process of “preparation” of fertilizer. If you overdo it with green, you will get a less finished product.
Distribution of layers
Compost should be laid in certain layers: coarse materials, such as corn stalks or small twigs, are placed on the bottom. They will easily overheat, as well as play the role of drainage, through which excess fluid will flow. In the first layer, you can put everything up to a finger thick. The height of this layer is about -10 cm
Following the brown layer, lay a green, for example, plant tops, green grass, etc., about 5 cm. Then again a brown layer: hay, dry leaves, etc. So repeat the layers, in no case thrombosis them. Do not forget also about food waste and old compost, it is best to stack them somewhere closer to the central layers.
The last, top layer should always be brown, do not forget that it also includes the earth itself.
Lighter for compost
If you want to get quality compost quickly, you must also fertilize it with microorganisms that help speed up the processing process.
To do this, first, prepare a “seed”: 1 liter of warm water (30-40 degrees) take a few tbsp. l. sugar, stir. Then add 500 g of yeast, preferably fresh, stir well. We leave the yeast for 15-20 minutes to “wake up”. In addition to sugar, you can also use jam, sweet juice, etc. This amount of yeast in our case is taken per 1 cubic meter of the composter.
When the yeast starts to work, add other microorganisms to the “seed”, such as a sulfur stick, which can be obtained from a fermented herbal infusion. Also for compost “lighters” whey, manure will perfectly approach.
The resulting seed is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 and pour each of the layers when laying compost. If the compost is already laid, just punch a few holes in it and pour the solution into them.
With all these tips, quality fertilizer can be obtained in a month.
