Broccoli is an ideal cabbage for those who care about their health and figure. And it is not to the liking of pests – they somehow avoid it. While white-headed snails turn into a sieve, or caterpillars scoop and cabbage skeletalize the leaves, broccoli grows quietly and grows strong green inflorescences.

Broccoli contains a huge amount of vitamins and minerals. It contains substances that fight pathogenic bacteria even better than antibiotics. Antioxidants contained in broccoli can protect you from cancer of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it is worth growing, especially easy to do.
In the early stages of growth, broccoli should be protected from the sun, because it grows best in the shade. In addition, the crop in the shade is softer and does not scatter so quickly on the flowers.
Feed the plants begin two weeks after emergence. For the first top-dressing on 10 l of water take on 2 tbsp. spoons of urea and this solution are watered about ten plants. The second feeding is done when the heads are formed. At this time, 10 liters of water put 2 tbsp. spoons of nitro phosphate and 2-5 g of boric acid.
It is not superfluous to feed broccoli with manure. To do this, it is diluted ten times with water and watered the plants under the roots.
Moisturizing and watering
When the temperature rises above + 25 ° C in summer, you need to start humidifying the air. To do this, put sprinklers or just carry out refreshing watering, which slightly moistens the soil between the rows of cabbage. Under such conditions, the heads are especially large and tender.
Of course, broccoli is more resistant to pests than other relatives, but still for the appearance of caterpillars protective treatment should be carried out. Although this need is very rare. But regular watering is definitely needed cabbage. If watered infrequently, the heads grow small and fall apart quickly.
About harvesting
When to harvest is not so easy to determine. The main thing is to cut off the heads before the flower buds bloom. If the heads are covered with yellow flowers, it is too late to harvest – the harvest is overripe.
The heads are cut off when they are 14-16 cm long, weighing an average of 200-300 g. After a few days, the side shoots grow on the stem. They can also be cleaned. On average, you can harvest five to six times.
