Mykhailo Slaboshpytsky was born on July 28, 1946, in the village of Maryanivka, Cherkasy region. He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. He worked as a correspondent, was the editor of the criticism department of the newspaper “Literary Ukraine”, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “News from Ukraine”, the magazine “Babylon-XX”.

He is the father of screenwriter and director Myroslav Slaboshpytsky and journalist Ivanna Slaboshpytska.
