It affects not only mood or, say, weight. Hormones control the processes of growth, development, normal functioning of all organs and systems.

Aging is a natural process. However, few people know that the imbalance of some hormones can significantly accelerate it. In particular, not the last role in this is played by the following 5.
Insulin
Excess insulin, caused by excessive consumption of foods high in sugar, promotes rapid withering of the skin and the formation of wrinkles, as it directly regulates tissue aging. You can balance its production with a healthy diet and adherence to a diet (you need to eat small portions every 3-4 hours). By keeping it low, we help strengthen cells, reduce the risk of contracting infectious diseases, as well the development of dementia and stroke.
Cortisol
Cortisol, the production of which is significantly increased in stressful situations, helps to suppress collagen synthesis – for this reason, the skin looks dull, thin, and flabby, blood vessels become more noticeable. If at a young age its level quickly returns to normal, then in adulthood after a nervous breakdown it may take several days. Excessive and prolonged concentrations of cortisol can disrupt the immune system, physically reduce the size of the brain and other organs, as well as muscles. Good sleep, avoidance of stressful situations and minimization of caffeine consumption allow regulating its synthesis naturally.
Estrogen
Age-related decrease in estrogen production contributes to the thinning of the skin, loss of its elasticity, and increased dryness. After the onset of menopause, this hormone is no longer produced by the ovaries, but by the adrenal glands, and its deficiency also indicates a violation of their functioning. Estrogen is “responsible” for the level of skin moisture and the production of collagen, which is needed to maintain the elasticity of all body tissues.
Melatonin
Decreased melatonin levels are due to sleep disorders and an unbalanced diet, which is characterized by protein deficiency. This hormone is a natural antioxidant that promotes hair growth, skin regeneration and protects it from ultraviolet light. It is during sleep that it fights free radicals, supports the immune system, reduces the risk of developing a wide range of diseases from cardiovascular to cancer.
Somatotropin
Growth hormone, or somatotropin, in people of all ages increases the production of a protein that stimulates the breakdown of fat cells. Decreased synthesis causes a decrease in muscle mass, weight gain, general deterioration of the skin. Exercise helps to maintain somatropin at a fairly high level, and more of it is produced during sleep.
It is quite possible to slow down the aging process and prevent hormonal imbalances. To do this, it is recommended to follow a healthy diet based on useful fatty acids and antioxidants, lead a moderately active lifestyle, take good care of your skin and avoid stress if possible.
