Comedian Norm MacDonald has died at the age of 61 in the United States after a nine-year private battle with cancer.

The Canadian comic was born in Quebec in 1959 and began working in Canadian clubs and then moved to the United States to write comedies. He worked for Roseanne before joining Saturday Night Live to host a parody of the weekend news story.
MacDonald had fans in the United States and around the world. He has also been known for his roles in comedy films such as Dirty Work, Billy Madison, and Dr. Doolittle.
According to Deadline, he was scheduled to appear at the New York Comedy Festival in November.
McDonald was known for his vague style of presentation and impressions of such Hollywood stars as Bert Reynolds, Clint Eastwood, and Quentin Tarantino.
After being released from Saturday Night Live, he starred in his own comedy series “Norma” from 1999 to 2001. He also hosted a Netflix program called the Norm Macdonald Has Show in 2018.
