As of December 2021, as a result of the measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the work to expand the geography of “visa-free”, citizens of Ukraine can enter the simplified procedure in 160 countries:
- without visas up to 108 countries / territories (of which a biometric passport is required for visa-free entry to 34 European countries, up to 2 countries (Georgia and Turkey) can use a biometric passport ID card for travel);
- to 52 countries – under the simplified procedure (e-visa and / or visa on arrival) “, – said in the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Thus, in particular, in 2021 the following international agreements in the field of visa liberalization entered into force:
- 01.03.2021 – Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Grenada on the abolition of visa requirements, concluded on 16.07.2020 (on the introduction of “visa-free” for all types of passports and travel purposes for a stay of 90 days for 180 days).
- 15.10.2021 – Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on amendments to the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on waiving visa requirements for citizens, concluded on 03.07.2018 up to 90 days within 180 days – the period of permitted stay of citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Serbia in the territory of the other party within the visa-free travel regime established by the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Serbia on visa waiver for citizens from 31.05.2011).
- 27.10.2021 – Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Peru on the abolition of visa requirements for short stays, concluded on 15.07.2021 (on the introduction of visa-free reciprocal travel of citizens of the parties for up to 90 days for 180 days for Peruvian citizens who intend to visit Ukraine).
- 28.10.2021 – Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on mutual abolition of visa requirements, concluded on 25.11.2020 (on the establishment of mutual and permanent visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines within 180 days).
In addition, in July 2021, an agreement was concluded between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Peru on the abolition of short-stay visa requirements. It entered into force on October 27.
The provisions of the agreement introduce a visa-free regime for mutual travel of citizens of the parties on the basis of valid passports:
- for travel of Ukrainian citizens to the Republic of Peru – up to 90 days with the possibility of extending the permitted stay for an additional 90 days (while maintaining the possibility of visa-free entry and stay in Peru for tourism up to 183 days);
- for citizens of the Republic of Peru who intend to visit Ukraine – for up to 90 days within 180 days.
In addition, a number of countries have introduced visa facilitation for Ukrainians in 2021:
- in March 2021, the Kingdom of the Netherlands decided to introduce a visa-free regime for travel of Ukrainian citizens – holders of biometric passports to the Caribbean Netherlands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Saba and Sint Eustatius) for up to 90 days. Note A decision on establishing a “visa-free” for travel of Ukrainian citizens to the Dutch part of Fr. Sint Maarten;
- in July 2021, the French Republic decided to introduce a visa-free travel regime for Ukrainian citizens on the basis of biometric passports to overseas territories and departments of France (French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna) and overseas departments, Maundarti, Reuny Island Saint Barthelemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Mayotte, French Guiana) for up to 90 days.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also provided a list of countries that Ukrainian citizens can enter in a simplified manner.
What was before
As reported by UNN, as of early December this year in the system of diplomatic service of Ukraine operated 129 foreign diplomatic missions in more than 80 countries. The activities of two of them were launched this year, another – reorganized.
