“As for the BA.1 and BA.2 variants, yes, they are registered in Ukraine. So far, these are isolated cases, and in fact, when we look at these subspecies, subtypes of the Omicron strain, this second variant is really worrying. We are not we record it en masse, these are mostly cases of infection of people who have returned from abroad, “Kuzin said.
Details
The coronavirus subspecies Omicron BA.2 is more contagious than the common variant BA.1. However, there is currently no evidence that BA.2 leads to more serious forms of the disease.
This variant of the strain is also called “invisible” because it does not have the “genetic marker” that researchers used to distinguish variant BA.1 from “Delta”.
Let’s add
In early February, a representative of the World Health Organization said on Tuesday that the subspecies Omicron BA.2 is likely to have the same severity of the disease as the original strain.
