Ukraine Gate -Kiev- March 8, 2022- Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said during a press conference in London that the international community needs to be vigilant about possible sanctions on Russian oil and gas in order not to create excessive risks to their economies.
“There is a lot of talk about energy sanctions, and it’s important not to be mistaken: we need to make sure that they do not create insurmountable risks to the energy supply of European and other countries, including Ukraine,” said Ruta.
According to him, “European companies should continue to work with Russia.” “However, over time, we need to significantly reduce our energy dependence on Russia,” he said.
At the same time, Rutte emphasized that “the Netherlands is ready to consider every possible sanctions that could put pressure on Russia.”
The Netherlands, Britain and Canada reportedly issued a joint statement declaring that they would work together to bring Russia to justice for the bombing of civilians and other violations of humanitarian law in Ukraine.
