Ukraine Gate- Kyiv – April 28, 2022- United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited Borodinka in the Kyiv region on Thursday, as this city is one of the places in the region where Russian forces have committed serious war crimes.
As the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs posted on Twitter, Guterres said during the visit that he imagined his family in one of these destroyed homes, and that he saw his granddaughters running in panic.. So there is no justification for accepting war in the twenty-first century.
Guterres also arrived in Ukraine on Wednesday after a trip to Moscow, and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After his meeting with Putin, a UN spokesman said that Putin had agreed to the participation of the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross in evacuating civilians from the Azovsteel plant in Mariupol. Guterres also proposed the formation of a tripartite group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations for the evacuation corridors in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on April 27 also denied Russia’s approval of such participation in the evacuation from Azov Steel.
