Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich is challenging the sanctions imposed on him by Brussels in the European Court of General Jurisdiction. Similar lawsuits have also been filed with the EU Council by billionaires Viktor Rashnikov, Mikhail Friedman, Petro Aven and other restricted entrepreneurs .

Records from the court file show that Abramovich decided to appeal the sanctions imposed on him. The application for initiating proceedings was registered on May 25. In addition, Brussels also imposed restrictions on the main shareholder of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant, billionaire Viktor Rashnikov, who also denied being on the sanctions list in a May 24 statement.
At the same time, billionaire Mykhailo Friedman filed a lawsuit with the European Court, the day before – billionaire Petro Aven.
In May, the Russian state corporation VEB.RF and its chairman Igor Shuvalov, son-in-law of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Alexander Vinokurov, businessmen Dmitry Pumpyansky, Vadim Moshkovich, Igor Kesayev, Andrei Melnichenko, Dmitry Mazepin also filed applications.
One of the first to sue the European Court was billionaire Alisher Usmanov, against whom Brussels imposed personal sanctions on February 28.
