A summit will be held in Lviv today, where Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. One of the main issues of the meeting, as the newspaper Yeni Şafak notes, is to “bring Putin and Zelensky together”, as Erdogan has been making efforts since the beginning of the war on February 24 to put the leaders of Russia and Ukraine at the negotiating table .

A Turkish newspaper calls Erdogan’s visit to Ukraine “important” and points out that the Turkish president has “important tasks.” President Erdogan has been looking for ways to organize talks between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, having hosted them in Turkey, since February 24, when the war began, the publication notes.
“It is assumed that Erdogan’s agenda will include the topic of negotiations at the level of leaders with the desire to continue negotiations,” the newspaper reports.
The grain corridor will also take a special place in the talks during Erdogan’s visit. “It is expected that the leaders will consider the work of the grain corridor, which began to function on August 1, by agreement of the parties,” the statement said.
“Ukraine, which, thanks to Turkey and the UN, can supply more than 20 million tons of grain from its warehouses to the world, appealed to Ankara with a request to expand the grain corridor to ensure the supply of iron. Turkey’s opinion on this proposal will be communicated “first-hand” – by President Erdogan,” the newspaper writes.
At the same time, the NTV channel notes that “two topics on the agenda are the steps that need to be taken to increase the functionality of the grain corridor and resolve the war by diplomatic means.”
“Among the issues that are expected to be discussed at the meeting is Turkey’s mediation in the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine,” the TV channel notes.
“The return to Turkey of two A440M aircraft of the Turkish Air Force, which were in Ukraine before the war and remained there, is one of the topics” that should be discussed too, the TV channel indicates.
Yeni Şafak also points out that “in the war that began on February 24, Russia largely destroyed Ukraine’s infrastructure.” And that while Ukraine “counts on the support of the international community on this issue, it is expected to request assistance from President Erdogan in this regard.” “On the other hand, Turkish companies want to take an active part in the restoration of Ukraine,” the publication notes.
The newspaper also notes that two meetings were held in Istanbul last month to discuss investments in defense, energy, construction and infrastructure and grain.
