Consultations on the creation of a safety zone have begun at the ZNPP

 Consultations on the creation of a nuclear and physical security zone around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant have begun. 

The organization, referring to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, once again emphasized that the situation around the station is cause for concern.

“(…) at the same time, he (Grossi – ed.) remains seriously concerned about the situation at the ZNPP as long as the shelling continues. A protective zone of nuclear and physical safety must be urgently created at the ZNPP; consultations on this issue have begun,” the organization’s post reads.

The organization also welcomed the restoration of the power supply line, which made it possible to stop the last working power unit. Damage to the backup line caused considerable concern, as it increased the risks of nuclear safety violations.
