“In recent days, we have seen a trend when collaborators contact the Ukrainian special services regarding the conclusion of an agreement on the cancellation, postponement or weakening of their responsibility, if they will provide information and serve Ukraine. Also, the collaborators understand that Melitopol will be liberated and decide to hide and wait for the offensive of the Armed Forces in order to be brought to justice. They clearly understand that it is better to serve a certain period of time in prison, but according to the law, than to be “cleaned up” by the FSB, which is exactly the kind of threat they see for themselves,” said Fedorov.
He also added that some of the collaborators are trying to leave for Russia, but they are not allowed and are sent back.
“The Russians don’t let anyone into Russia, they don’t need traitors. There was one case when a collaborator was not allowed to pass at a checkpoint in Crimea. On his way back to Melitopol, he was arrested and no one saw him again,” Fedorov said.
