March 23, 2021, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Mr. Bartosz Cichocki.

Mr. Ambassador said that the Polish Government has developed a draft intergovernmental cooperation agreement, which will be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in the near future.
Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet spoke about the state of elaboration of the draft Agreement.
“I hope we will be able to work out and sign a document as soon as possible, which will cover the issue of enrollment of persons belonging to the Polish national minority of Ukraine in classes with the Polish language of instruction, regardless of the place of residence,” said the Minister.
In addition, Serhiy Shkarlet informed about the functioning of the Polish-language school in Horodok, Khmelnytsky region. Currently, 293 students study at the educational institution. Students who study at the Horodok Lyceum №3 and belong to the Polish national minority are guaranteed the right to receive education in Polish along with the state language in accordance with current legislation. Basic secondary education is obtained in the state language in the amount of not less than 20% of the annual amount of study time in the 5th grade with an annual increase in such volume (not less than 40% in the 9th grade).
The parties also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of education and outlined new potential areas for further cooperation.
It will be recalled that Minister Serhiy Shkarlet stressed that a component of the New Ukrainian School reform is the training of a new teacher, so the goal of the Ministry of Education and Science is to promote his professional and personal growth and increase his social status.
